The Ducks Pantry
Our roving, seasonal food market, The Duck’s Pantry, is an extension of our ethos and belief for making good quality food accessible, with the onus on value, coupled with personable customer service. Give yourself a break from the scripted glare of the supermarkets and look us up!
Current roosting position:
A4421 Buckingham Road in the village of Newton Purcell. Conveniently situated between Bicester and Buckingham, right in the heart of the village.
We’re open 7 days a week (see opening times below) and move around the locality based on the seasons.
Fresh fruit, vegetables and salads:
We always have a fantastic array of fresh produce, bought in locally from the market each day, featuring both staple goods, seasonal specials and, often, gourmet lines you won’t find readily on the big boys’ shelves. These come to us via the famous Rungis market in Paris and more recently have included wet garlic, flat peaches, artichoke globes, leafy lemons and Melon Charentais.
Bread, pastries and cakes:
Bakery and pastry goods are also delivered daily, courtesy of renowned London based artisan bakery, The Flour Station. Breads include sourdoughs, levains, the popular potato based Tortano rings, together with ryes, ciabatta and focaccia. Bakewell tarts and croissant make popular breakfast and snack choices and we compliment these with our rich and well-loved brownies.
Award winning and much loved butchery M. Newitt & Sons, based in the nearby market town of Thame, provide us with an array of delightful meat and deli products, including quiches, Scotch eggs, smoked chickens and ham hocks.
We have both everyday dairy essentials and more local, specialised cheeses.
You’ll also find the odd surprise cropping up with free range, local goose, bantam and hen eggs, local honey and artisan juices and cordials.
We’re currently partnering the Markham family and have taken up residence in Newton Purcell for the very popular asparagus season. The Duck’s Pantry is truly field fresh, with Backlin, Millennium and Gijnlim varieties of asparagus harvested from 15 acres behind the Pantry and delivered straight into the waiting customer’s hands!
British berries – including strawberries, blueberries and raspberries – should finally be landing w/c 30/05. Nothing beats the sweet taste of ripe, home-grown berries when we’ve had a winter used to strawberries that taste like turnips and berries so sour they induce extreme face contortions!
- Monday-Friday 9.30am-6pm
- Saturday 9.30am-5pm
- Sunday 10am-2pm
