We love that all things British and traditional are making a revival, so our food is an inspiring blend of time-honoured favourites, with a creative MD twist. When we roll out the well-used line of ‘we’re passionate about food’ you can be sure we’re not talking cobblers, because food is central to everything we do – all the owners behind The Muddy Duck spend their working day promoting better food, responsible sourcing and making things happen because we believe good food should be inclusive, not exclusive. No short cuts, no ping-and-ding, no frozen – all fresh. Through and through we’re about free-range, high welfare, sustainability, local or British produce if it’s best or at its best – and if not, we’re not ashamed to source from further afield, because quality is what counts. We’re proud of our team and have nothing to hide so enjoy the theatre of gawping at our chefs-on-show through the kitchen’s viewing window, or take advantage of the unique flavours that can only be got from our beautiful Valoriani, Tuscan built wood fired oven out near the terrace restaurant. The grog

We’re fortunate to be in partnership with a number of wine experts, all of whom are on the continuous scrounge to find us some amazing wines that represent real value for money – whether you’re looking for a great choice in the value to mid-range, or you’re ready to be a bit flash and push the boat out. We love drinking wine but we don’t live and breathe it – fortunately our suppliers do and we’re happy to be regular guinea-pigs, ensuring we’re mixing up firm favourites with something a little different to keep our list comprehensive but fresh to the eye. Our travels in the food world lead us to find many exciting growers and producers which we like to share with you at The Muddy Duck. Predominantly our little finds are food related but now and again we find little gems in the drinks industry too – and with that in mind our friends Simon and Holly Bellingham Turner at Sumaridge Estates in the Upper Hemel-En-Aarde Valley, Cape Town in South Africa have helped us compile a range of wines which we think are all classically different.  The Hemel-En-Aarde valley is often referred to as “Little Burgundy” because of the valley’s reputation for producing world class Cool Climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. From the huge oak in the Chardonnay to the light pepper of the Pinot Noir we’ll be celebrating the Sumaridge collection for a while, so see what you think and share your thoughts with us! It’s not all vino… We have a good rotation of ales and our aim is to keep them both varied and interesting, as well as stocking the old favourites punters want to rely on. Former landlord, Iain, is also on board as starring guest cellarman and we’re grateful to have him with us owing to his established knowledge of all things on tap! On the spirit front, the choice is yours. We have the recognisable brands, the value brands, those to create a talking point and some we’re darn right proud to stock. If you don’t fancy a pint, but you’re not ready to get stuck into the wine list, our carafes of house wine are a down-to-earth alternative. Download our wine list >
